It’s amazing how innovative
technology can develop to be used for diverse purposes. One such medical
invention that is today used by millions of women round the world is the
vibrator. It was in the early 18th century that doctors devised a
device for treating female hysteria by manipulative pelvic massage. This device
was initially made for medical purpose and the first one was a steam powered
devices.
The inventor was an American Physician called George Taylor and he
named it manipulator. Initially meant for helping doctors with strained wrists’
get relief, it was further developed by Joseph Granville and patented as an
electromechanical vibrator.

It was not until 1902 that the
device was available for retail when an American company made and
patented an
eclectic one making it amongst the first domestic appliances to be electrified.
Some of the appliances electrified in this age include; Kettle, Toaster, Vacuum
Cleaners and sewing machines.
In 1920 the device was not seen in the mainstream
until 1960 when Jon Tavel patented the cordless version making them personal
devices. It is reported that they have been advancement in changes as pertain
to design, model and speed since the initial designs.
