Sunday Inspiration : How to Stop Worrying

By on 02:27

In the recent times so many bad things (Alshabab attacks, police killings, accidents) happen around us and we worry about bad things that can happen to us. Its human nature to worry but the best way to live a life free of worries is using the technique I call ' Worst case Scenario ...'

You should always ask your self ...What is the worst case possible to happen...then evaluate the options you have and soon you will begin to realize there are more options to the problem at hand than worry about it.  As a young man living in a country marred by corruption, favoritism, tribalism, nepotism ....and the other vices, trying to cultivate a positive mindset may be had to come by especially when you are jobless, heartbroken, damn broke and your dreams getting broken by the hour....

Changing the way you look at things and giving problems a dose of optimism makes you
a better and healthier citizen. When never I am tempted to worry or give up on something I always want to remember the personal story of a guy we went to school with.

I saw him struggle to join the armed forces and It was one experience that I will never forget. I used to think he has many other options but he was too obsessed with it. When we were in school he was the best of the best in athletics...the only issue he did not manage to get good grades to be a cadet ....so every time  recruitment was announced he would go to try his luck ...the first time he was told....Kijana muguu yako ni flat, second time ...mkojo yako ina shida and the third time he succeed ....

This is a story of someone with a determined mindset ...no matter what the first opinion you are given by a person there is always that guy who will be there to listen to your story ...if you give up too easily Kenyan hustle might not be the best place for you....when we were young boys we used to say ' gutiderera nikwo kuheyo ...'  translated as persistence pays....we often use this approach in those village seductive woes...(lolest ) so some it paid ...so lets not give up lets do what we can to nurture a persistent and never giving mindset. ....

From this story I always ask myself when confronted by a serious worrisome issue ...Have I tried the same thing 3 times and failed ? Most time the answer for this is a NO, Have some else done this before ? The answer for this is always a YES...so I never take the road to self defeatism by giving up on your dream, pursuits  aspirations and visions.

You should be inspired this Sunday that don't let worry and broken spirits make you lose direction to your dream in life. Just stay focus because your moment will come some day.

A verse from the bible says that time and chance happen to them all...so hold on that faith that one day your chance will come ..

I once read the most awesome book written about worry called ' How to stop worrying and start living  by Dale ' So I realized that most of the things that worry us never actually happen as Dale puts it in his book. On a spiritual perspective Desiderata sums it in a few sentences :

Desiderata

Go placidly amidst the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its shams, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy
