irector of Public Prosecutions, Keriako Tobiko, has ordered that governor Evans Kidero be charged with assault and Nairobi women rep Rachel Shebesh with creating disturbance.
An inquiry by Criminal Investigations Officer Nicholas Kamwende into the incident.
recommended that Mr Kidero and Ms Shebesh be charged. He also proposed that Ms Shebesh and the group that stormed the governor’s office be charged with creating a public disturbance.
Under the penal code, affray, or fighting in a public place, is considered a misdemeanor and any person convicted is liable to imprisonment for one year. This means that Shebesh and her supporters who accompanied her to Kidero’s office should be jailed for one year.
On assault, the law says anyone convicted is liable to imprisonment of five years- This means that Nairobi governor, Evans Kidero should be jailed for five years
